It was presented at Full Circle’s Talking Stick Festival and then at Aluna Theatre’s Rutas Panamericanas Festival, which was presented in association with Native Earth.

Prior to this, incarnations of the work originated with Beagan and Moro through halfbreed productions and appeared at SummerWorks, then Factory’s CrossCurrents festival, as well as in a special retreat showing at the Shaw Festival through a residency at Cahoots Theatre. If you missed all of these, don’t you worry…

The core artistic team – Andy Moro and Tara Beagan – have re-worked the show to take the story on a sharper, stronger journey. A11 plans to bring In Spirit to locations rich with Indigenous communities across the country and internationally. This journey began with Planet IndigenUs hosting In Spirit in Toronto, August 2015. Starring Sera-Lys McArthur, we played Harbourfront Studio (August 5 & 6, 8pm) and under the Gardiner at Fort York (August 8, 10pm.)

This experience solidified our aim to partner with Indigenous companies who share our desire to tell our stories with all principle roles inhabited by Indigenous peoples. The first such partnership was in September 2015, with Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company, now Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre. The SK based production features actor Dakota Hebert and Stage Manager Aaron Shingoose. We were part of the University of Regina’s Performing Turtle Island.

In May of 2017, A11 were honoured to be partner with Urban Indigenous Theatre Company of Winnipeg.

“The play is thoughtful and tightly executed.
