Join the sights and sounds of <strong>ARTICLE 11<\/strong> and our stellar guest artists, for a demonstration, through practise, of our increasingly remarkable First Nations, Inuit and M\u00e9tis oeuvre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT<\/strong>: DECLARATION is a durational work of sound and visual installation, tailored to the guest artists, the curation of its occurrence and the land it is being hosted on. The installation aspect is created by ARTICLE 11.<br \/>\n<strong>WHO<\/strong>: ARTICLE 11 invites artists, at times in conjunction with a given festival or curator, to profile an existing work or a work in development. Each guest artist is supported by the sound and video creations of ARTICLE 11. At times, the artists take wild risks of their own, trying different approaches to works that will soon debut, or experimenting with new collaborators.<br \/>\n<strong>WHY<\/strong>: This platform gives Indigenous artists the opportunity to show up and simply be artists &#8211; a rare treat for many of us self-producing types. It is also an opportunity to extend a work beyond its usual environment and typical performer\/audience relationship, which is always informative and exciting.<br \/>\n<strong>WHERE<\/strong>: Absolutely anywhere. The sound and video existed full time.<br \/>\nInclement weather resulted in a schedule scramble and a magnificent three-way improv with Santee Smith, Rakesh Tewari and Carlos Rivera. Audience members were dazzled and awed by the dynamism of this trio, who had never collaborated in this way &#8211; indeed the dancers (who had not planned to duet) met Rakesh that very day.<br
