{"id":576,"date":"2016-04-30T12:36:23","date_gmt":"2016-04-30T17:36:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/article11.ca\/?p=576"},"modified":"2016-06-21T14:59:24","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T19:59:24","slug":"reckoning-responses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/article11.ca\/?p=576","title":{"rendered":"Reckoning: responses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThere is a growing canon of work, by Indigenous artists, that addresses Canada&#8217;s Indian Residential School System in truly sophisticated ways.\u00a0<em> Reckoning<\/em> by ARTICLE 11 is just such a work.\u00a0 It defies simple categorization because it is trans-disciplinary, holistic in its viewpoint and begins its exploration at a demanding level.\u00a0 <em>Reckoning<\/em> assumes you are a conscious and historically informed citizen and its 3-part structure reflects the multidimensionality of the trauma and our responses to it.\u201d<br \/>\n&#8211; Michael Greyeyes, multi-disciplinary artist, Cree<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Its excellence sets the bar high: this work deserves a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/entertainment\/stage\/2016\/04\/17\/stage-spotlight-falls-on-first-nations-activism-as-an-art-form.html\">broad audience<\/a> in Toronto and to tour widely.&#8221; Karen Fricker, the Toronto Star<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Reckoning<\/em> was provocative, aesthetically rigorous and really moving.
